Teenagers Think....

Chris Gagnon, 18, East Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte: Honestly, to me, this law about sagging pants is an infringement on freedom of speech. To me, people should be able to wear anything they want because it's their body, not anyone else's.

Hayden McWhirter, 17, East Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte: It would be a good move, but we must think about the rights of the males and females of those who do like to sag their pants. It may change how people act if this is passed all over the U.S., or may cause a riot.

Christopher Myers, 16, East Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte: The banning of sagging pants is outrageous. That in a way is a violation of freedom of speech. Every person is unique and has their own style, so if that is how someone wants to dress, then so be it. I don't think this will affect the way people dress simply because people are going to view it as a law that makes no sense. There is no law against wearing pants extremely tight, so at the same time there shouldn't be one for sagging.

Justin Mirabal, 17, East Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte: The conspiracy on the way people dress in school is going overboard. I believe that a student or any person in general should have the choice to dress the way they feel or even given permission by the parent if it comes down to it. These rules will not change as many more students are starting to wear their pants sagging or even wearing short shirts and or skirts.
Bianca Gibson, 18, East Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte: In the professional world, there are no saggy pants. I think sagging pants should be banned. Many people, not just blacks, wear their pants saggy - whites, too. People say it's stylish, some think it's gang related, and some do it just because they want to be cool. I think saggy pants are not going to stop. People think it's bad if you have your pants up high. So looking professional is bad to many people. Another reason why people sag is because they see it on TV so if they see celebrities sag, they think it's cool to set a trend. We need to put a stop to saggy pants because when it come down to it, who want to hire a person with saggy pants? Nobody. So stop now and grow up.
